Modern Living Room Ideas: Add A Touch Of Glamour

We usually think of living rooms as places which should be furnished relatively simply in order to make them a relaxing place to spend our leisure time. However, that doesn’t mean that you can’t add a little bit of glamour to your living room – it’s easier than you think and it doesn’t have to cost a small fortune to do either.

You can add a touch of chic without making your living room look vulgar. The idea is to create a look which is sophisticated, not showy. What it all comes down to is making the room distinctive through small touches. Whites and other pale shades are the way to go for the colour of your walls, but you don’t have to go all white in your living room, something you’ll be glad to hear if you have small children or pets.

Furniture:
Soft, comfortable furniture in muted colours is the way to go here. There’s no need to make things look overly busy with bright colours or ornate patterns. It’s actually easier to make your living room look a little glamorous by leaving things out rather than adding them in – and with this in mind it’s a good idea to limit the amount of furniture in the room to what you actually need. It should go without saying, but clutter is hardly glamorous. Symmetry and an orderly look overall gives the room a clean look; from there, you can add the details which dress up your living room.

The clean lines of Danish modern furniture (or similarly styled furniture of high end Scandinavian furniture isn’t a good fit for your budget) are a good choice, as are other modern, minimalist styles. This isn’t to say that you can’t add in a few antique pieces. An Art Deco table or lamp can be a nice touch which softens the look of the room, but overall, modern furnishings are the best choice.

Decorative Touches:
Just because you’re going for a glamorous look doesn’t mean that you should pack the room with bright, shiny accent pieces. A glass-topped coffee table or side tables are a good way to add a glamorous, luxurious feel, along with a metallic accent piece like a table lamp. Speaking of lighting, harsh overhead lighting isn’t a good fit. Strategically placed lamps give the room the lighting it needs, exactly where it’s needed, without making the room overly bright. Use large rugs to help ground your colour scheme and choose curtains online to get a great choice of colours and patterns. Just like every other aspect of your living room décor, the idea is not to go overboard – a little glamour goes a very long way.
