Interior Design Ideas: Bedroom Colour Revivals – Orange

Perhaps one of the biggest colour revivals this year has been orange, as Pantone colour of the year Tangerine Tango, orange in varying shades is no longer being considered only appropriate for contemporary interiors. Time honoured colours which have stood the test of time remind us that some aspects of life are well worth looking back to, creating a feeling of nostalgia and of the good times.

However, the orange revival of Tangerine Tango may be al little too bright for some people’s bedrooms and so it’s easy to turn to gentler hues, especially those that have red undertones, such as spicy cinnamon to create a warm soothing ambience and chic style in modern and traditionally styled bedrooms

The spicy tones are ideal partners for brown and reds, especially if you want to add a touch of romance to your bedroom in a stylish way without turning to the more familiar reds and pinks. Use duvet cover sets and bed throws which embrace spicy colours without being too loud or garish; think along the lines of warm Mediterranean nights and the colour of gorgeous summer sunsets to get the colour balance right.

If you want to get nostalgic you’ll need to ditch many of the trappings which today’s lifestyles seem to have bombarded us with – return your bedroom to a haven of peace and tranquillity by only having the bare essentials in terms of furniture; which means no televisions, games consoles or fancy bed-frames! Evoke the feeling of nature’s riches by using natural fabrics and materials as much as you can. You don’t have to be a 70′s hippie to enjoy the simpler things in life, and no one is suggesting that you pitch a tent in your garden so that you can commune with nature!

Interior design ideas, such as using cheap curtains or fabric panels hung from a curtain poles as a head-board is a great way to add interest to a plain wall and a futon style bed. Simple bed-side tables can be added for both convenience (there’s no need to stumble your way around in the darker!) and to create soft mood lighting which reflects light back from a plain satin sheen painted orange wall.

Don’t dismiss orange because it offers great potential in bedrooms, choose the tones and hues which are back on-trend within the world of interior design and you may be surprised just how effective the colour can be at creating a soothing, relaxing bedroom; turning your bedroom into the ideal place to de-stress and unwind after a long, hard day.
