Love is in the Air: How to get a Romantic Valentine’s Bedroom

We start this post by wishing lovers old and new a Happy Valentine’s Day!
Today we take a look at how you can add soft furnishings, cushions, cheap curtains, bedspreads and rugs to a bedroom to transform the ordinary into something special. We don’t all have a lot of spare cash at this time of the year and yet with some clever and savvy shopping this time of the year is the time to grab yourself a bargain to spruce up your home and give your bedroom a mini-makeover with a romantic touch.

Let’s start with the floor as this can be the area that lets a room down on the style stakes. It can be costly to completely re-carpet a bedroom and while stripped floorboards and tiles are all the rage within the world of interior design, there’s nothing quite the same as stepping onto a rug in bare feet. Large rugs with an animal print are on-trend this year. The larger the better, although not so large that the entire floor is covered – as this defeats the object of having rugs rather than fitted carpets! Animal prints also remain on-trend this year so you’ll be achieving a double tick if you include both in your bedroom.

Next we move to the main focal point of the room. Whatever the size or the type of frame you have it’s the bedding that keeps you warm and snug. For a romantic gesture add a flash of red (the colour associated with passion and romance) with bedspreads uk or fleecy bed throws. This burst of colour can easily perk-up a tired looking bedroom without too much expense. New duvet sets are also a welcome change – there’s nothing quite like climbing into a bed which has new bedding! You don’t have to go for red just because of one day of the year (Valentine’s Day) especially if red doesn’t coordinate with the room’s existing décor. White duvet sets are always a good investment as they’ll coordinate with any colour scheme effortlessly.

A single heart-shaped cushion can give your partner a pleasant surprise and let you know that you love them – especially if this type of outward display of affection isn’t the norm in your bedroom. Roses or a single rose placed on your lover’s pillow will also bring a smile to their face this Valentine’s Day!
