Inspiring Ideas From Far Away Places 3: Turkey

You have finally decided that some of the rooms in your home are definitely looking out of date, and a bit dull looking, they now need decorating and a new style put in place. Not everybody these days has the money available to be able to go out and hire a professional interior designer, but with a little bit of imagination and some creative thought, you will be able to come up with some ideas for decorating. Maybe you have in the past been on holiday to Turkey; perhaps you want to decorate a room that reflects some of the things that took your interest whilst you were in Turkey.

As with any room that you come to decorate in your home, you will need to do some careful planning beforehand, regardless of what the theme is that you have chosen. You will also have to pay close attention to any colour scheme that you want to implement, as the colour that you use is quite possibly the most important factor to creating an atmosphere that is harmonious and in balance. Maybe some of the bright colours that you saw in the Turkish bazaars and markets have inspired you to want to use them on your walls and window dressings such as bright red curtains teamed with white walls.

If you are considering decorating a room within your home with an international flavour to it, then you will have to be mindful of not making it look like a shop full of imported goods! This is a common mistake that is made when creating such a room, there is the tendency to get as many objects and other paraphernalia into the room to give it a look of authenticity. But if you are going along the lines of a Turkish theme, then there is probably no better way than to strategically place some rugs in the room concerned.

Turkey is well known for its rugs and can trace the history of making them back to 7,000 B.C. By just the simple inclusion of cheap rugs that have the unique style and design that instantly says it is Turkish, could be the only thing you need in a room to give it that feeling you desire. If however you do wish to take it further you might consider putting an Ottoman in the room for added effect and have on a coffee table a set of Turkish coffee cups that you may be brought back with from your last holiday there. But it is wise to remember that simplicity will work well in any room you are decorating, so it’s best to keep along those lines.
